Beginnings

To be honest, I'm a little unsure how it is that I am to go about writing this thing so I figured I would just start and hope it works itself out. I had the idea for this blog a little while back and it had remained as an idea until now. So what's the point of this blog you ask? Well lets begin...

As it so happened, I entered the world of photography roughly a year ago when by random happen-stance I became the proud new owner of a little Nikon d50 DSLR. At the time I didn't think much of it, like all spur of the moment purchases it was perhaps nothing more an act of consumption - coupled with a mild curiosity. Though looking back now, I really couldn't afford the $400 price tag and yet I knew I had to have it.

Since that day, photography has grown to become a very important part of my life. What part that is exactly I am not sure yet. After all, life isn't a 'quest for meaning' its about having meanings (plural) in your life. And photography is one of those :)

As photography had become something important to my life, I wanted to work towards making sure I was "good at it" - whatever that meant at the time. And so, I set to study all that I could about photography and have done so every day since.

And so we come to some 'point' of my blog.
My intention with it, is an evolutionary one. That is, I hope to use it as a place where I can share my experiences in photography: what I've learned, the mistakes I've made, and how the meaning of photography itself has changed and continues to change along the way.

I am by no means claiming to know a lot about photography. Far from it, but what I DO know, may serve as useful to newcomers in photography and may help speed up the process from 'snapshot Auto-Setting' to photographically proficient. In doing so, it may help people spend more time working on their own personal vision and expression and less time sifting through the thousands of technical 'how to' books and user manuals as well as learning the hard way some of little things that just really aren't mentioned much anywhere. Once again, all of this information is from my own personal experiences and learning with photography and may or may not relate to you personally.

In short, I intend for this blog to be a collection of musings, mistakes, realisations, annoyances, achievements, defeats and everything in between in relation to photography. Take what you like, and feel free to comment and contribute.
If you are reading this, I would like to officially welcome you and invite you to follow me, on a personal journey in photography.
